Chhattisgarh High Court Phase-2 Examination consists of two Tests – Skill Test (Typing-based) and Written Test (Translation-based). Skill Test is qualifying in nature, but the Written test is fully scoring. The aspirants who qualify in the Skill Test will be called for the Written Test. The Written Test comprises two Passages one from Hindi to English and the other from English to Hindi each carrying 50 marks. The aspirants must attempt both the questions in 2 hours.

The following are some highly important Legal Terms used in doing translation. Learn them and look at their usage:

1.      A fortiori — एक बड़े कारण से, निश्चयपूर्वक
यदि एक प्रशिक्षित व्यक्ति यह कार्य नहीं कर सकता, तो निश्चयपूर्वक एक सामान्य व्यक्ति भी इसे नहीं कर सकेगा।
If a trained person cannot do this work, a fortiori, an ordinary person also cannot do it.

2.      A Priori — संभवतः
न्यायालय ने संभवतः यह मान लिया कि अभियुक्त निर्दोष है।
The court a priori presumed that the accused was innocent.

3.      Ab initio — आरम्भ से/आदितः
धोखाधड़ी के कारण अनुबंध आरंभ से ही शून्य घोषित कर दिया गया।
The contract was declared void ab initio due to fraud.

4.      Abandon — परित्याग करना
उसने अपनी संपत्ति पर अधिकार का परित्याग करने का निर्णय लिया।
He decided to abandon his claim over the property.

5.      Abandoned Property — परित्यक्त संपत्ति
पुलिस ने सड़क किनारे पड़ी परित्यक्त संपत्ति को अपने कब्जे में ले लिया।
The police took possession of the abandoned property lying beside the road.

6.      Abandonment — संन्यास
उसका परिवार का परित्याग पूर्ण संन्यास का प्रतीक माना गया।
His abandonment of family was considered a symbol of complete renunciation.

7.      Abatement — उपशमन
प्रदूषण के उपशमन हेतु सरकार ने नए नियम लागू किए।
The government implemented new rules for the abatement of pollution.

8.      Abduction — अपहरण
बालक के अपहरण के मामले में पुलिस ने त्वरित कार्रवाई की।
The police acted promptly in the case of the child’s abduction.

9.      Abet — उकसाना
कानून किसी को अपराध करने के लिए उकसाने की अनुमति नहीं देता।
The law does not permit anyone to abet the commission of a crime.

10.  Abetment — दुष्प्रेरणा
अपराध में दुष्प्रेरणा भी दंडनीय अपराध मानी जाती है।
Abetment in a crime is also considered a punishable offence.
