All Main Verbs may be either Transitive or Intransitive or both. The verb answering \u2018whom\u2019 (for a person) and \u2018what\u2019 (for a thing) is Transitive by nature.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Look at the following sentences:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>He has\n     lost all his money. <em>(He has lost\n     \u2018what\u2019\u2026 \u2018money\u2019; hence \u2018lost\u2019 is Transitive)<\/em><\/li><li>The\n     teacher punished Raju. <em>(The teacher\n     punished \u2018whom\u2019\u2026 \u2018Raju\u2019; hence \u2018punished\u2019 is Transitive)<\/em><\/li><li>Get me a\n     chair, please. <em>(Here \u2018me\u2019\n     and \u2018a chair\u2019 are Transitive)<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Note:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>A Transitive Verb takes its Object just after itself; no preposition can be inserted between them; however in Passive Voice it is not followed by an object.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>In Passive Voice, the verb or phrase used is Transitive<\/em> but is used intransitively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Some frequently used Transitive Verbs:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Absent<\/li><li>Acquit<\/li><li>Ask<\/li><li>Advise<\/li><li>Apply<\/li><li>Avail<\/li><li>Allow<\/li><li>Tell<\/li><li>Enjoy<\/li><li>Fell<\/li><li>Frighten<\/li><li>Kill<\/li><li>Lay<\/li><li>Present<\/li><li>Raise<\/li><li>Remind<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1.
